Beauty and the Beast
Sun, 7 Sept 2008, 02:55 pmI'm sure I'm not on my lonesome when I wish Playlovers the greatest of success with their forthcoming production of Beauty and the Beast. To see one of our own putting on a show at the Regal is fantastic! I know they're not the first to do so, but it's up to all of us involved in the local theatre community to offer our support to our colleagues by telling the whole of Perth about this must see and support event.
PS: And before I'm asked the obvious...yes, I shall certainly be going, and before you ask Walter...No, I'm not involved in any way with this production.
cheers

A lad in sane productions
Actually they only need to
Mon, 8 Sept 2008, 10:44 amActually they only need to flog 1000 x $50 to cover their costs. I would imagine thinking more about the BOS's ratio & the shows demographics pull. I think they will be looking at 3 concession tickets, for each full price seat flogged.
So I'd estimate the average ticket price would be $33:75. Thus as I suggested the production costs on each available seat, would be just around $2 each. So they have the potential of bringing in $31:75 for each of the 24702 available seats [$784:288 approx].
So from my mind it would be not that much of a gamble, in fact nearly every ameatre group show, risks far greater % loss/production. Also they spend more per available seat than PL will be.
The Entertainment racket is purely a numbers game, of putting as many BOS's on seats in the least amount of performances & time. So in that regard PL could afford to reap the benefits of spending a further $50 000 at least on a media advertising campaign.
