Tue, 15 May 2007, 08:36 amFirstly, you will find that most of the users of this site have a more theatrical focus than TV or FILM. Any film or TV Work will be low or non-paid type work. With that in mind...
It is much easier to get into Am work than Pro. The difference, payment.
There are a lot of Community Theatre groups around the country and I believe it is a great way to keep in touch with more experienced members, and to keep you skills up.
If you are looking at going pro, then you have two options;
- Chase up and make contacts with Artistic Director, Producers, and casting consultants
- Joining a Casting agency and a reputable one too.
Infact, you are probably better following through with BOTH options at once. I wrote a Blog on how to find and agent on this and other sites sometime back, and have recently updated it on my own blog Site - Tips for Finding a Theatrical Agent
It is my thoughts on the matter only and it echos the thoughts of a few others I have found out there.
Basically you are walking into a world where you are going to have to learn how to "Sell Yourself Effectively" and it can be hard work whilst very rewarding.
