Insurance question

I just went to do a quote, and it seems a bit strange to me that they accept payment straight away - submit a few details and you can pay immediately, without having anyone review it before hand. The site is recommended by an old community insurance thing run by the government, and I see it listed on another bunch of arts sites, but it does seem odd that there's no reviewing system.
Any recommendations/opinions?

I'm a sole trader, which tends to make me come under 'business' policies, despite the fact that I lose money, am not registered for GST, and am still a performance arts 'organisation'. Every time I look into insurance, it's about $2k per year, something I just can't afford.
Insurance in this country (for performance groups) is crap.
