Until now, the Theatre Australia site has been used by actors, community theatre companies and the general public as a wonderful free service. It gives an opportunity for the interested, irrespective of income or status, to have an independent say.

Has the time come for any commercial enterprise, which is not a theatre company producing shows but which charges people to be one of their members - or to register on their site – to be charged a nominal sum, like $199 per year, to put their name or shortcuts on the free Theatre .asn site?

There is an issue here that you've touched on, but we may have assumed: that there would be a publishing policy, which would dictate what ads/links/companies are appropriate or not.
