Charges for this site?
Thu, 13 Mar 2008, 04:45 pmUntil now, the Theatre Australia site has been used by actors, community theatre companies and the general public as a wonderful free service. It gives an opportunity for the interested, irrespective of income or status, to have an independent say.
Has the time come for any commercial enterprise, which is not a theatre company producing shows but which charges people to be one of their members - or to register on their site – to be charged a nominal sum, like $199 per year, to put their name or shortcuts on the free Theatre .asn site?
Why?
Thu, 13 Mar 2008, 06:51 pmThanks for raising this issue Gordon.
This month marks the tenth anniversary of the launch of this website and it's probably appropriate to revisit this issue again - along with whole range of other concerns.
But I think your specific question is best answered by starting with the question "why?" In all seriousness!
Why would we seek to charge some people and not others?
And, almost as importantly, why would people or organisations think it worthwhile to pay?
Regards
Grant
