Charges for this site?

Until now, the Theatre Australia site has been used by actors, community theatre companies and the general public as a wonderful free service. It gives an opportunity for the interested, irrespective of income or status, to have an independent say.

Has the time come for any commercial enterprise, which is not a theatre company producing shows but which charges people to be one of their members  - or to register on their site – to be charged a nominal sum, like $199 per year, to put their name or shortcuts on the free Theatre .asn site?

To fee or not to fee

Logos and Na may have company links, but they have made it obvious over the years that they are truly interested and involved with the well-being and future of the theatre, and most of us would have been unaware of the commercial side.

I too think that $199 is not really nominal, but when solely commercial and unproductive sites are advertising individual membership for 'only' 25 cents a day - or $99 per year - on this FREE site, then they would probably think that $199 is cheap.

If every magazine, agency, night club etc started dumping their names all over the site it would become a shambles, and think, would they allow Theatre.asn to put numerous ads in every area / copy of their site or publication free of charge?
