Charges for this site?
Thu, 13 Mar 2008, 04:45 pmUntil now, the Theatre Australia site has been used by actors, community theatre companies and the general public as a wonderful free service. It gives an opportunity for the interested, irrespective of income or status, to have an independent say.
Has the time come for any commercial enterprise, which is not a theatre company producing shows but which charges people to be one of their members - or to register on their site – to be charged a nominal sum, like $199 per year, to put their name or shortcuts on the free Theatre .asn site?
At least one site that I
Fri, 14 Mar 2008, 03:06 pmAt least one site that I regularly use in the US has a rule that registered members cannot profit from posts personally although they can advise other members of good deals and so on provided they have no vested interest.
Others must pay to advertise on that site and there are very few who do. I pay (voluntarily) $40US a year to be a member of that site, all my money gets me is a little logo under my name that says "supporter" but the money helps run the site.
This would not stop people from advertising shows and auditions. I don't think it's a bad idea. Mind you to post on that site you must register.
With regards to my above point, to me $40 is nominal, $200 isn't but where does each of us draw that line?
Is that all there is? Well if that's all there is my friend, then let's keep dancing.
