HELP!!!
Without giving away too much of the plot, Harbour Theatre is looking for a way of 'hanging' an actor on stage, without actually hanging him in real life (is this what is meant by character assassination?). Does anyone have any suggestions how this can be done?
We've thought of a harness to suspend him, but don't have one. Does anyone know where we can get/hire one, or know of an easier and cheaper way to hang someone. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated. In fact, you can call me direct on 9335 5917 (during civilised hours please) or email if you prefer to remain anonymous. Thanks.

Try a construction old type harness (I believe they are still aproved and used), which was used on building sites a few years ago (most Electricains, Plumbers and biulding tradesman would still have them around their workshops), as the new ones have an automatic fall arrester which is bulky and hard to mask or hide in a costume - but any of the older type with rear top pick ups should be suitable - HOWEVER, DEPENDING ON THE HIGHT AND WHAT ANCHORING IS USED - it would be in your AND/OR THE THEATRES interest to find a freindly 'Rigger' (qualified) to assist {bribe him/her with a family ticket - complimentry} because this is also your 'duty of care' and becomes everyones concerned responsiblity and liability - WORKSAFE might help or advise -
BUT please don't take 'IT' lightly BE SHOW SAFE.

I flew the two warm prop 'Cherubs' in "GREASE" flying in and out on a dual track as well as up and down - but this was under strick suppervission of Fly Master Rigger and with safety crew standing by, who also ensured that the performers and others did not venture in to the danger zone - it was a Ben Hur operations in order to safe guard all concerned. Unfortunetly both Pro 'n Am tend to think because it seams easy and they have done it a few times without incident, 'IT' is safe. - sorry! you won't get a bananna for that thought.

Are there other ways of contriving it - rear shadow on a cloth or transposition lighting on a scrim or other artistic/illusional ways that can be devised.

Best of Luck
