Rent @Campbelltown
Sun, 12 Feb 2006, 04:30 pmHeaded out to Campbelltown fri night as I read they were doing my fave show of all time, RENT!, nervous and excited to see what they had done with Larsen's brilliance... Not only did they far surpass two previous productions of RENT! I have seen recently, but made me laugh, cry and moo! They didn't just play roles, they appeared to be LIVING them... Voices were varied, but beautiful, raw and passionate, relationships unfolded before and I actually believed them - Maureen and Joanne were just perfect, not butch and sterotypical, angel and Collins ripped my heart apart and Roger and Mimi burned me! The ensemble came together tightly, voices meshed in hot harmonies which tingled the spine... all up a fantastic performance! No day but today!

To viewer. i played in every single amatuer production of rent in sydney, except for the chatswood one. If you had something constructive to say, that would be all well and good, but to just post on a forum bagging out a production, and saying this could have had a more professional attitude, like rockdale etc, i must suggest that u dont kno what the @!#$ you are talking about. for a start, i do actually do serious professional work, im not just someone who comes onto forums bragging about having done stuff. and some of your comments dont make any sense at all. collins, overdoing the emotion? lol that was pretty funny. the show a mess? that was pretty funny too. at least you didnt say anythign about the band cos then i would have been like what the @!#$! and got really pissed off. this, in my PROFESSIONAL opinion EASILY ranks with rockdale as the top two rents done thus far. sure there were some off moments, especially with some of the lead singing at times, but to just come onto a forum and pay out a production, not giving any helpful advice in the process...what do u think people think about that? of course everyone is entitled to their opinion, but having said that, it would be nice to hear some suggestions, as opposed to "oh that was just crap".
And one more thing, some of the sydney conservatorium vocal staff came to see the show, and they were impressed with most of the singing. and these guys are some serious hard asses, having done stuff with german opera, aus opera, etc etc. and whilst im sure you know what you are talking about, i definately rate these guys opinions.
