Saw this show on the last night-was in for a pleasant suprise. Just a few short notes...
The set was AMAZING, truely brilant piece of stage mastery, the show is a difficult one to stage because of the numerous set changes to practically every scene. Well done crew, I didn't sense that the audience lost focus once due to the speed and magical sound created by the orchestra. Yes, the orchestra. Well, what can I say, it was truely one of the most beautiful sounds I have ever heard out of a pit! The balance between instruments was magnificent and the only problem I could sence was the sound levels occasionally drowning out the singers.

Overall the sound let down this production. Many of the levels were appaulingly out of kilter, whereby the bass and tenor lines were louder then the melody! Echos were also a problem, especially with higgins mike at certain times-no matter how big his house is I'm sure it would not create an echo similar to that of the grand canyon!

Anyhow, on to the actors. Higgins was brilliant, truely the stand out performer of the night. Last night line glitches were covered up with ease and he truely 'was' Higgins both in essence, nonverbally and accent wise. Pickering worked ecceptionally well with him, the only fault being that his accent compleately changed throughout th performance!

Katja Webb made a beautiful Eliza, her voice unmatched, though this almost distracted frm her cockney accent in the first half as her roughness of a girl living on the streets was not fully animated. Her interpretation was different, effective, yet not show stealing. I dont feel that she fully grasped the role with both hands and a little more could have been put into her dramtisation of the text.

The chorus scenes were the highlight of this show-a standout performer Monique-be sure to look for this girl in a leading role next time! She truely shone out from the crowd.

anyhow, this was only goingto be short, but I must mention Freddie-a beautiful performance, this boy will go places, just give his voice a few more years to mature.

Any other views on the show?!?

Thou dissembling common-kissing horn-beast!
