New Poll (shock!) - Before the Big Night

Announcing the nominees before the big night would create massive threads from disgruntled, grumpy, miffed and shocked people involved in shows who missed out on the final list. Never mind the number of punters who turn up! What you would lose from the despondant you would pick up from the hopeful.

There have been some great debates on this site in the past, after an Awards night, when a particular show or person missed out on an award. ( "Noises Off" is one example) Just imagine the outcry if they hadn't even got past first base.

It would be great Theatre in itself as some correspondents are quite witty and informative and a minority are vindictive and rude. I personaly find the grumpy and angry posts some of the funniest reads, I can sit back and have a giggle when I imagine the hammering some poor keyboard got while the message was thumped out. The angry red faced huffing and puffing foot stamping Actor/ Director screaming at a screen about being shunned by their peers.

The review section is plain boring when a "love in" develops about a particular show. I suspect these flowery writings are by the lovers, the Mums and Dads or the Cast themselves. The Review section is at it's best ( and possibly most Honest) when someone posts even the slightest critisim of a production . Once the bile and attacks begin the thread becomes compulsive reading. Then we get the full mix of the intelligent, thought out arguments and the raging personal attacks.

I say announce the Nominees before Christmas so we all have some fun over the break.
