New Poll (shock!) - Before the Big Night

New topic, relevant to WA Finley Awards but open to anyone else who has an opinion.
Do you think nominees for a Community Theatre awards night should be announced before the event?

Unfortunately though when I voted I was somewhat horrified by the attitude of others who had voted before me.
I cannot understand how people can claim to support Community Theatre and then vote "Yes. So I can decide whether to not IÂ’ll go." (This, just for the record, held a 72% majority at the time I put my vote in)
Surely, if you are a true supporter you would go, regardless of who was or was not nominated for an award or whether or not "your club" was in with a chance.
I can now fully appreciate exactly why the Finlay Awards Committee does not announce the nominees before the event. Because obviously if they did those that didn't like the way the votes had fallen would simply not bother to show up, thereby leaving us with what would rapidly become a non-event.
Come on people, get behind the theatre you all claim to love so much, and support the crew that are trying their damndest to make “The Finlay’ s” a great night out for everyone, not just the winners!
