New Poll (shock!) - Before the Big Night
Fri, 6 Jan 2006, 07:15 pmYes, it's about time the poll was updated.
New topic, relevant to WA Finley Awards but open to anyone else who has an opinion.
Do you think nominees for a Community Theatre awards night should be announced before the event?

But what about companies who are from out of town? If they are nominated more people would be willing to travel the distance to support their club, instead of just those who can afford the costs/time?
I know this is what happened when a regional theatre company was nominated in the Victorian Theatre Guild Awards. We were 2 and a half hours from the venue, but because we had scored a handful of nominations a total of twenty people turned up to support their company, instead of the normal two people.
I don't know if there are many companies in regional areas entered in the Finley awards, but organisers should spare a thought for those who have to travel. Knowing in advance can give them a chance to rally the troops. Don't underestimate the support a country town will give their shows!
And it is also exciting to know what companies / or shows are battling it out!
Just an idea.
Ruth.
