Thank goodness ndp.
I have just had a refreshingly good experience today guiding a work experience girl (year 12) through the art and techniques of linear video editing. She was interested in being able to do it and picked it up quite quickly whilst also showing initiative. I only showed her some of the basic requirements and after instructing her through one program she had the idea and only needed basic help for the next three. I also guided her through non-linear editing (computer) last week and she also grasped that quickly.
It really is good to have someone you don't have to tell and/or show ten times before they even have half an idea.
So I guess what I am saying is to agree with your last statement. It's just a pity that they are so seemingly few and far between.
Cheers.
