Hi all! I just signed up today so I have no idea if Im being rude and not having made an intro first like some forums require you to do so....please forgive me if this is the case. I havent been acting for quite some time now; perhaps a little over 10 years. I was mainly doing theatre and extras work, but was very keen on getting into film and tv just like a million other hopefulls hehe Im looking for representation and was wondering if anyone has heard of PG's Agency in Sydney? Private message me if its easier. I'm very much looking forward to being a part of this forum. :-) Sorry guys, I just wanted to also mention that I have read FAQ and did my research so now Im just looking for some personal experience or advice about this particular agent as its been a number of years since I've worked.

Fees

Many agents do charge fees for optional services, such as a photographics session. Honestly, it could be for anything and you would best to ask them directly what the fee includes. While they are technically not able to enforce an upfront fees, they sometimes include services which you may find useful.

http://www.alliance.org.au/resources/download/nsw_agent_information/ - While it says NSW, it is relevant Nation Wide.

As it clearly states in the second link...

Under the Entertainment Industry Act 1989, an agent can only charge the following percentages of a performers salary as commission:

  1.  for an engagement involving film, television or electronic media - 10%;
  2.  for live theatre, live musical or variety performances - 10% for any period up to five weeks and then 5% for any period after;
  3.  in all other cases - 10%.

Commission is negotiated on the performers negotiated rate excluding:

  •  travelling and meal allowances;
  •  holiday pay;
  •  long service leave and superannuation payment;
  •  overtime or penalty payments which are paid on an irregular basis;
  •  Award or minimum payments in respect of rehearsals.
