Chookas...?
Tue, 16 Oct 2001, 08:36 pmCan anyone explain the origin of the expression "Chookas" (or "chukkas" or however it's spelt) to wish someone good luck in a show?
I must have used it or had it said to me a thousand times, but I can't say that I really know what it means...?

RE: Toi Toi Toi Chookas...?
Thu, 18 Oct 2001, 02:13 pmWhen I was a wee hoofer - a very long time ago - in theatre. It was said as a poem and you place the right hand on your left heart or breast - which ever is your want - while saying Toi Toi Toi.
Unfortunately, all I can remember is;- " May you always play to a full house" - I am sure it’s ‘to’ and not as some suggest ‘with a full house’ - as that’s another story.
I will try and contact someone from my JCWÂ’s days, who might remember?
