I fully understand, that this web site is done out of the goodness of Grants heart (Voluntary), But with all the non-Western Australian requests for information is there a need to go NATIONAL.

The request for information alone must indercate that there is a demand for a superier theatre based web site
(build a Jacuzzi and they will come)

One centeral site with all the information that people need.

I am sure that there would be interested parties to invest to cover and costs or that annoying selling of advertising space.

Just a thought.

I just have to jump in here and agree with Melissa. Some day soon someone is going to do a better job of building an online community for australian thespians, but i believe theatrepeople isn't it and i've not seen anything else anywhere in the world that's close yet. And if i did, i'd probably mercilessly "plagiarise" it.

I've spent a great deal of time researching online communities and the ITA site is modelled on the most effective examples i could find. But the key factor is a word in your last sentence: accessible.

Successful sites recognise that the 'net is a two way street. It's not just about providing people with access _to_ information, but assisting them with the means to bring their own information to light in a community forum.

Here's the crystal ball:

You can't really see it yet, but the groundwork is all there to make this national - some time early next year. With help it could be done much sooner. Is anyone interested in getting their hands dirty under the bonnet?

Cheers
Grant (just arrived back in Perth)
