For all people who want to act
Wed, 5 Jan 2005, 03:30 pmI've seen this site a couple of times, and I'd just like to make a comment.
Whether you want to believe it or not, I'm a successful actor.
Everyone here who's asking for a role: Stop!
Everybody who looks at your messages are just kids - there's no casting directors or agents out there looking at your messages.
Believe me; you're not going to get any work by posting here.
Go to any theatre you've heard of, and do lots and lots of shows.
Submit a resume to every theatre you know of, and make yourself known!
The truth is: 99% of all actors actually get paid/professional work.
It's unfortunately the truth, even it is sad.
But if you believe in yourselves, and you really believe you have what it takes, then go for it.

Mon, 10 Jan 2005, 07:59 pmThat's okay. No amount of emoticons can make up for not hearing the way someone says something. Meaning is in the inflections!
Anyway, I recently started checking this page more often, after a lapse, having found that the information here can't be found elsewhere. I do however, delete my daily posts that I receive via email, and now only read stuff from this site that I am interested in.
If you have a subscription to ArtsHub, you should read my column, I go into a lot of reasons for the necessity of clear and concise (and easily found) industry information. There's heaps of stuff out there that nobody can teach you at school or at uni, because most people have already done it and don't have time to document it. Which is why the young aspiring actors/techs that post on this site are lucky, because they have people to respond to their questions.
