Sun, 14 May 2000, 03:50 pmSome associates and I have recently formed a theatre company and are hoping to do a 12 week tour of the East Coast of Australia next year. This is the first tour that any of us have undertaken. I am seeking advice from producers and techs who have been down this road before. What is the best way to approach the theatres that you are interested in performing in. Best grants available? Has anyone applied for grants before..any tips? Did anyone break even undertaking such an excercise?

I recently returned from taking a show to the Adelaide Fringe and the melbourne comedy festival. one of the best grants around(if you are based in the West) is Artsflight through Artswa. it gives your production a certain amount of money for flights. I am pretty sure that the money can only be used for flights though and nothing else. Worth a try. it certainly helped us out financially.
