Seeking Breakable Props

No need to purchase. One of our regulars, Stephen Dean, recently posted on his blog a recipe for sugar glass (also fake blood, as you can see by the link below): http://theatretechgeek.wordpress.com/2009/09/23/bleeding-on-cue/ For breakable furniture, I once worked on a show that pre-cut the legs off a chair, and then inserted carefully placed long tubes of (uncooked) pasta into small holes. The pasta acts as a temporary joint, and so long as you're very careful placing the chair on set, it holds the furniture together until time to 'break' it. An actor can then knock the furniture over, etc, and the legs 'break' away. It's cheap and easy to reset; just make sure to actually break the chair/whatever the first time around - using a saw will make it lose its realism.
