Re: PJ not the jammies

As a PJ fan, I have to throw my two-bits in. Back in the late 60's I booked to see PJ in concert, he was opening for Cilla Black. His stage trousers were so tight that when he moved around they split apart all around his thighs. To which he was subsequently warned, anymore of that you are out of the tour (we are talking late 60s here, what a joke) To my disappointment he did it again before the show hit Manchester and was promptly booted out. He was replaced by Tom Jones whose first hit record, "It's Not Unusal" was at 24 in the charts and climbing rapidly to number one. So I guess you could say I missed out on one legend but saw the beginning of another.
PS I remember reading years ago that Presley would pick about 20 songs and PJ would record them in Presely's style as his voice had a lot of similarites to Presely. Then Presely would listen to the 20 demos, pick the 12 he liked and record them for his next album. This being before PJ made a name for himself.
Just thought I would throw in a bit of trivea, I can only pass on what I read, true or false.
Last I heard he was living in Bury, a suburb of Manchester, making commercial jingles; so I am glad to see he is on the comeback trail.
Good on him.
