Walter plinged talks shit

Tue, 23 Sept 2008, 01:02 pm
Being a contestant in storm the stage for the last 4 years, and being in the Grand Final 3 times, i think my opinion of Storm the Stage is more accurate than most. Walter plinge states: 'it used to be a great competition and now it is just an waste of time. no publicity for it, no interest in it and interesting to see that the numbers are dwindling fast.' thats absolute rubbish. For a start, publicity has increased for it. Yes perth had about 70 entrants this year or something, but to suggest that their was no talent is absolute rubbish- Considering that all 5 of the music theatre competitors attend waapa and study full time courses there shows your lack of knowledge and just down right stupidity. And 2 of the acting performers also at waapa. i have watched storm grow, from originally being small, and growing in magnitude each year, with better support, better contestants and bigger, originally starting with just a piano for the grand final, and minimal lighting, to now an orchestra and a band and with lighthing cues, and special effects. You say there is no publicity- it was around, and though there wasn't such as high a turn out this year for WA, other states such as QLD had a huge influx of new registrations and iexpect will grow more for next year. As for no interest in it, absolute bull shit- there was such a huge crowd, so dont know what you're smoking, cause you're talking absolute crap. WA has 10 contestants, because being the host state, and initiated by the late Geoff Gibbs, and promoting WA talent, it was incorporated in the rules that 10 wa contestants be selected for the grand final. I have watched the talent over teh years, having had to compete with them, and they give a hell of a run for their money. The talent is getting much better, and it is getting harder and harder tot make it to the finals. You obviously have some form of grudge against the competition or those in it. Why youwould you bag something that provides an opportunity to perform, helps you grow as a performer and showcases both WA and Australia's talent, not to mention the opoortunity it provides to lighting, stage crew and other forms of training to students. it simply eludes me....you are a true sadist, and obviously are one of the few no lifers that come on these forums, to bag the crap out of everything and undermine everything good to happen in perth, and as far as i am concerned you just have no clue. i never stated that those who make it to the final are the best in the best, and nor will i say that, but Storm the Stage provides a great night out, and has people on stage that both a- entertain, b- sing in pitch c- tell and convey a message or tell a story, and d- haev the potential to be rising stars, as the quality is that of a high standard. So ill conclude that you have no clue, and your comments aren't warrented and not even valid. Dont know why you think its 'being flogged to death'...i personally think you have some hidden reason, perhaps you weren't good enough or something....doesnt matter, and nor do i care, but i do care that you are bagging the competiton and making it out to be something its not. so kudos to you. -Julian Goncalves-
