Beauty and the Beast

Mon, 22 Jan 2007, 10:24 pm

Hubby, daughter (9) and myself went and saw it last night... we were not disappointed.  Nobody goofed that any of us noticed - we could hear everyone - except at the very beginning when the narrator was talking - it sounded a bit mumbled and I don't know if it was his diction or his mike...

Can't pick a favourite - think they were all brilliant.  Although, daughter and I secretly felt Lumiere and Babette were highlights of the show... we'd go and see a show just of those two!

Lumiere impressed my daughter at the auditions - he had accumulated a group of fascinated children about him as he sat, waiting, on the floor and amusing them with sound effects... I think my little girl fell in love with him then... and his performance as Lumiere cemented it! :)  So "Lumiere" - you have yourself a new fan - she's only 9 but that probably doesn't matter!

The sets were incredible - I think this performance really raised the bar at MPAC... how are they going to top that I wonder?

Anyone know where those very young kids came from?  Are they part of Jennifer Back's ballet school who trains there?

If tickets are still available, as Molly would say, do yourself a favour... my daughter is begging me to get tickets again so she can see it twice!  I'd actually go twice myself but can't afford it... we went to an evening showing and there were still a lot of children present and judging by their noisy responses, it was a huge hit.
