Beauty and the Beast

I went to the matinee performance yesterday and thought the show was extremely well done. The sets and costumes are magnificent - I want the Beast's Blue Coat. The cast were all very strong - although at times it was extremely difficult to hear anyone who didn't have a mic. In particular in the large chorus numbers. Especially the three silly girls in Kill the Beast, at first I thought someone had forgotten to sing until I realised it was the three girls and they were no longer wearing mics I understand that there are only so many mics for each performance, but it was a shame not to hear people as the vocal quality was great. The leads were all fabulous in particular Gaston, Lefou, The Beast and Belle. The household were tight and fun. I especially like the Wardrobe. Her attention to detail with her movement was spot on. My only big grumble about the show was the behaviour of some audience members, in particular the family sitting in front of me who went out at interval and returned with a serving of hot chips and proceded to eat them during the second half. If you can get tickets, go see the show. If you have children or are a child at heart it is so worth it.
