all our thoughts to go out to a technician that died during the recent stage collapse in Toronto. Again another stage has collapsed and we have lost a fellow tech. Safety needs to be our focus, lets work together and look after each and look out for each others safety. http://theatretechgeek.wordpress.com/2012/06/17/stage-collapse-toronto-it-has-happened-again/

It's a long time since I

It's a long time since I worked on the dark side!  I rememberr years ago while I was vworking for a Commercail Lighting Company. I managed to get a heap of light fittings, which were shop sioled &/or returned nder Warranty. The Manufacturer would just replace them & not bother having them picked up. I think nowadays this might not be the case. Because some will have them returned & they are smashed up & disposed of. In fact on average usualy you can make up about 3 good working units out of about 4 units. The bits left over can be used as spare parts as required.

I tend to think this avenue might be closed up these days, however as most are made in China they are cheap enough to start with! But it could be a good scource to check out? You might be able to do a deal, by offering a few Comps for one of your Ameatre shows. Also in a lot of cases with the Bulk Head fittings, it dosent take much to have a 'Blue & White circuits in each fitting. with 'Show Mode' switch Over' in the Bio Box &/or backstage.
