And here we are busy planning our one act season, and the first play calls for a taxi. No problem! Four seats out of a wrecked holden or Ford should do the trick, rear seats mounted higher than the front,,placed centre stage, loose steering wheel, no bells, no horns, but no wait! Our director desires more (don't they all, she would like, if at all possible, a few minor extras, ala, a fixed steering wheel, doors that open and close, headlights, and the whole contraption when finished capapble of being rolled around the stage so that with clever lighting from Hywel Williams, said vehicle looks as though it drives.... okay! I promised her I'd do my best! Completely forgetting to mention that I'm the Frank Spencer of the carpentry / welding / metalwork universe, so I put it to you good technical people to help me out here!By chance, is there anyone willing to help build this thing... say goodbye to borong staircases and the like, say hello to motor cars...now, achieving our directors desires would bring kudos aplenty, alas no money, and certainly gasps of awe from the 12 people who'll see the thing. Alternatively, a few ideas on how we can go some way past the four seats and the loose steering wheel idea would win one many friends. cheers Johnny Grim A lad in sane productions

Might be easier to replace

Might be easier to replace the director JG! What about getting an old car from a wreckers, cut the top off, and mount it on a stage truck. You could raise the rear seats fairly easily. Get Hywel to connect it to a remote control a-la the boat in Phantom, and hey presto! ....or 4 stackable chairs and pretend. The whole car thing might make it a bit of a problem to take to Dramafest. I'd consider the first idea. :P www.meltheco.org.au

stage truck

Once again, I show my complete ignorance by asking what's a stage truck?

It's a rostrum with wheels.

It's a rostrum with wheels. You build sets on it and can then wheel them on and off stage, assuming the wings are big enough. www.meltheco.org.au

I assume this is to be

I assume this is to be staged at Phoenix?

As there is limited wing space, {thanks to the 'daffodil bloke' [Achietect]}. Why not leave it upto the punters , to be allowed to use thier imiginations?

Chookas Jonny!

Just a thought JG!How is it

Just a thought JG!

How is it proposed by this Director to move the Taxi about on stage?

Even on a truck, who would push it about -  with Mechs, Techs or [at a push] 'Warm Props' ?

You could utalise the PS or OP apron wing stages as the Taxi & rostra the back seats!

{The OP one, may be the best, as it would give direct acess to the dressing rooms, leaving the House Rag in & assisting with preset for the prevous ornext One Act}

Thanks for your concern Joe

Thanks for your concern Joe and Jeff, but, without giving things away, I have it worked out and have contingencies in place if we can't pull it off as I envisage in my ultimate Director's dream. Jane Sherwood
