TECHNICAL THEATRE TERMS EXPLAINED

In is down, Down is front

Out is up, Up is back

Off is out, On is in

Left is right and Right is left

A Drop shouldn't and a Block and Fall does neither

A Prop doesn't and a Cove has no water

Tripping is OK and also Breast Drops happen regularly

A Running crew rarely gets anywhere

A Purchase Line buys you nothing

A Tank Trap isn't an ambush, for fish nor for armoured vehicles 

A Dip is not finger food

The flys can't and a Blofli wont

Nor do Birdies, Wings or larks heads help either

Tabs can’t be smoked

Cans can’t be opened but Parcans can

Books have no pages & Pages ain't for books

Lines aren’t read or House Rags used as wipes

Domes are not round ceilings 

Drumonds lamp is not a personalised light

Tormentors don’t nor do Teasers titillate

There is no customs control on a Dutch Border

nor egg in Yolks or standing on Legs

Boarders have no immigration

Flats stand erect and walk if no braces used

A TV[Studio] Flat is not a plasma screen in an apartment

A Flat Iron won't put creases in clothing

You can screw a Boss, grip a Stud & pickle a truss

while a Stage &/or Tech Screw is not an orgy

Trucks have no engines but can be steered

Tweaks,Trimmers and Gels do nothing for hair

Shotguns and Rifles don’t fire

and there’s no Barns for their doors

Barrels are empty

there is no beer in a Half

Pipe, Bar or Batten is not to smoke, drink or fight with

Heads up is not a n elevated toilet

an Iron will drop in a fire

you can Smother a Stage with Tabs

A Gridiron has nowt to do with US football

The Cyclorama is no a scenic bicycle ride

A Stile is not for a gate or a Rail used for a train

Strike is work& Bump In & Out is a grind

A Bio Box is not live TV

Gobo is not cheering on a friend, nor a bogo 

Iris is not a flower

or a Top Hat formal wear

A Lime is not a colour or a fruit

you don't eat a Doughnut

To Dowse & Dampen is not to become wet

A Profile is not any outline

A Channel is not a TV Station

A Patch won't mend or cover up anything

Hang the Blacks till Dead is not discrimination
