WAAPA certificate or BA
Thu, 24 Nov 2005, 03:50 pmDoes the Certificate have a second call back for auditions? Is it worth doing the Certificate at WAAPA. Especially if they dont garantee placement into the BA.
Interested to know how many of you would do the certificate. Is it just as hard to get into.
The BA is obviously the best BUT if 500 audition and only 18 places, thats tuff.
Interested in opinions please

Soph,
I'm not sure how hard it is to get into Certificate I'm sorry. But the course is mainly made up of WA ppl, there was one other guy in the class from interstate.
I didn't do a dance audition to get in and there was 24 in my class.
I had some of the same teachers as in the BA, the dance, song and dance teacher and the acting teacher were all working in the BA course when I was there.
You do an end of year showing for family and the David, Jenny and Crispin, the heads of the BA course. I'm sure certificate isn't the top of their list of priorities, but we weren't left out in the cold either. It's really what you want to make of it.
Again, it's only my personal opinion - but I really enjoyed it and learnt a lot from the course. It's more then just the course, you get an idea of what WAAPA are looking for and an idea of the BA course etc.
If you are coming from interstate though, WAAPA has a great support network and I made some great friends during the course, and decided to stay in WA.
Hope this helps!
Ruth
