Re: We Will Rock You
Sun, 9 Feb 2003, 12:33 pm'We Will Rock You' is the musical with a book by Ben Elton and music by Queen. There's a website for it, but I can't remember the URL so I'm sure if you go to Google and do a search it will pop up immediately.
It's currently running on the West End, and if you saw either 'Party at the Palace' or any of the Golden Jubilee celebrations you would have seen bits of it. The lovely Billy Jinks put a review on this very website about the London production (which I will be seeing in August, Gilly! Clear off your sofa, coz I'm a-coming to London!)
The production for which I put the casting agent's name up for is the multi-million dollar, fully professional production which will be receiving it's Australian premiere in Melbourne at the Regents Theatre. By all appearances (and this is only me guessing - don't take it as gospel), cast members need to be young-ish dancer-types with pop-rock style belt voices. Having said young-ish, however, Nigel 'Neil From The Young Ones' Planer was (still is?) in the West End production.
I re-iterate, I am just an actor! I just put the info up because, being a professional performer and a dyed-in-the-wool Queen fan (Eliot, Grant, David: did I mention I've met Brian May?) I said I would put up the 'how to *maybe* get an audition info' as soon as I'd found out. Everything I have written in this post is an educated guess, and I have NOTHING to do with the production.
My thinking with the 15 year olds who have posted here is the same as Gill's - submit a professional head shot and CV and see if you can get an audition. To spare disappointment, however, I'm thinking that unless you're at Brent Street, Dance World 301, have some mighty fine credits on your CV, have a top gun agent or are Nikki Webster, you probably won't get one. Again, this is only my opinion and shouldn't be accepted as definite.
And this is me signing out on this topic,
