The owl and the Pussycat
Sat, 31 Mar 2007, 01:34 pmThe other night I was invited out to the theatre with a friend of mine, who is a regular theatre goer, when I was told the play was in Kwinana I was a little reluctant to travel the distance but I did and was extremely delighted with my decision. The play was a two hander called the owl and the Pussycat. From the instance the lights came up I was in ore at the talent and ambience of a truly delightful and well crafted performance, The two performers have a wonderful stage presence and a chemistry which is a sadly not often experienced in theatre these days.
During the interval I was amazed to hear that this production was put together in only three weeks, but it truly shows a level of professional commitment from both actors and the director.
On a sadder note I was disappointed to see only 21 people in the audience, And also to hear that there has been small audiences every night. I have only lived in Perth for 5 months but a play with talent like this should be more recognised and supported by other thespians no matter how far the distance to travel.
My thanks goes out to the two actors and director for a wonderful night out, And I will certainly be watching out for any other shows that these two actors appear in.
Richard.
Kwinana isn't so far away
Tue, 3 Apr 2007, 08:35 pmI was lucky enough to see this show last saturday - sadly the final performance.
I really enjoyed it. From the moment that the curtains opened til the end. Apart from some confusion around the time that the play was being set, but that didn't last too long.
Both Claire and Leon did an outstanding job with an extremely demanding and wordy script.
Having seen shows at KTW before I was disapointed that there were so few people in the audience. And we were the biggest audience they have had.
Kwinana is a fabulous venue. And isn't as far away as many people seem to think it is. I commented to my friend as we drove into the carpark that it always seemed so far, but now with the freeway all the way through it only took 25 min from Wilson. It takes me less time than driving to Roleystone.
Well done to all involved and I for one will definitely be making the (rather short) drive down the freeway again to see another show at KTW.
