****Give your money to a "Sweet Charity"
Fri, 8 Dec 2006, 09:18 pmIf you haven't already booked your seats I suggest you do so right away or you will miss a great show!
The whole impact of the show was great. The director and his team did an excellent job on casting, costuming, set design, musical direction and choreography.
Vicki Kirkman as Sweet Charity shone through in a very challenging and exhausting role. She dances and sings well and was ably supported by the rest of the cast. I enjoyed the scene with Vittorio immensely in his apartment, and thought the scene in the elevator was hillarious.
The installation of new lighting at Stirling helped create a great atmosphere with the ability to backlight the stage for the first time.
The sleazy scene in the ballroom with the girls singing to Hey big spender was a show highlight and looked very atmospheric with the girls sillhoutted in the front.
The standout number was of course "The Rhythm of Life" featuring the charismatic Tyler Jones as Daddy Bruebeck.
This number was so intricate in its vocal arrangement and stage movement, that it was over far too soon!
Overall, I would say this was a very tight, well paced production full of energy and emotion.
Congratulations to everyone involved and well worth a visit.
Also really enjoyed the show!

I just wanted to say that I also enjoyed the show "Sweet Charity". I am only new over here from Melbourne and was taken by a friend to see the show and was surprised at how muched I enjoyed myself. I dont usually go to Amature Theatre but from now on I will be there supporting them. Overall, I felt that the show was tight and clean and had a very professional gleam to it, sometimes though you are left sitting in darkness for a while???? Charity is a hard role to take on and I have to admit that This Charity (Ms Kirkman) really tackelled the role and made it hers, without even realising it you find yourself rooting for her and enjoy the ride. As said above I really enjoyed the Elevator scence too, but 2 cast members I feel should be acknowledged are the 2 girls who play Chairty's friends, Niki (Ms Tywman-Perkins) & Helene (Ms Burrows) these 2 girls worked well together and really had a great chemistry between each other, I wanted to see more of them I felt the stage lit up everytime Well done Girls. As said before really enjoyable, thanks to all involved for a great night!
