Hi Marie. Glad you enjoyed it. I got good feedback. Glad I actually remembered all the words on the night! Here they are:
(To the tune of That's Amore [Dean Martin])
In Perth's Amateur community
There's one award they long to see...
When your play's entered in and you hope you might win, that's the Finley's (that's the Finley's)
If your show was adored you might win an award at the Finley's (at the Finley's).
You'll soon see all the nominees in each category and there'll be some new prizes.
The ITA judges saw each play, now they'll have their say and there may be surprises.
Who'll go home, quite relieved, better known for receiving their Finley (at the Finley's)?
Which play earned most applause in 2004, was it yours?
If you saw all the rest, and you're sure that the best play was your entry,
Then you know there's a chance you'll go home with your hands on a Finley.
Which award will you get? Will your show win Best Set at the Finley's?
It's a contest indeed for Best Other Than Lead at the Finley's.
If direction was tight and the lights were right and the costumes bright and night after night they applauded,
You're quite right to be a bit excited because tonight you just might be rewarded.
Did you incite lots of fights on the website each night over your play?
If you knew all your cues and you got good reviews you're in luck.
Now the judging's been done, let's reveal who has won in each category.
You might go home and boast that your club won the most at the Finley's.
Thanks everyone. I had fun doing it. Thanks to Melissa Merchant who invited me to host, and who did a fair bit of the organising leading up to the event.
Cheers
Craig
