Audition postings
Mon, 2 Oct 2000, 07:31 pmWhy do people do multiple postings of their audition notices on this site? Twice, I can understand for impact but any more than that is just plain annoying! Anyone else sick of scrolling forever?

"In Grant's absence would our other resident experts care to comment?"
I'll have a go (not that I'm an expert, but I'll pass on what Grant told me...)
Some groups/companies have an audition period as opposed to a specific audition day. So, when they add an audition notice to this page, and they are asked to specify the audition date on the little calendar that pops up, they innocently click on every date in their eligible period, resulting in multiple postings.
Now that I've made people aware of this, hopefully the problem will not recur. Of course, any system is open to abuse, and if someone wants to bomb us with two months of audition dates it will cause a few inconveniences until one of us can go in and clean it up. I would also suggest that such an action would NOT have the desired effect of over-promoting a show, and would only result in making the post-er unpopular.
