Why do people do multiple postings of their audition notices on this site? Twice, I can understand for impact but any more than that is just plain annoying! Anyone else sick of scrolling forever?

RE: Audition postings

Why do people post multiple audition notices?
Accidentally usually. sometimes when making a correction two sets of information appear and I've not yet discovered how to make the first posting disappear! Occasionally when posting info in the 'what's on' section the samr notice appears twice and I'm certain that I have only 'pushed the button' once!
In Grant's absence would our other resident experts care to comment?

"In Grant's absence would our other resident experts care to comment?"

I'll have a go (not that I'm an expert, but I'll pass on what Grant told me...)

Some groups/companies have an audition period as opposed to a specific audition day. So, when they add an audition notice to this page, and they are asked to specify the audition date on the little calendar that pops up, they innocently click on every date in their eligible period, resulting in multiple postings.

Now that I've made people aware of this, hopefully the problem will not recur. Of course, any system is open to abuse, and if someone wants to bomb us with two months of audition dates it will cause a few inconveniences until one of us can go in and clean it up. I would also suggest that such an action would NOT have the desired effect of over-promoting a show, and would only result in making the post-er unpopular.

RE: Audition postings

Thanks Jarrod!

I'm delighted to see that the multiple audition listings appear to have disappeared, well done.

Your explanation is pretty much spot on. Your comments about the popularity of people making such multiple entries are probably also accurate!

Cheers

RE: Audition postings

Do you mean to say we can't talk about you behind your back Grant because you're monitoring us from the 'other side'?????
Please tell us all about the current London shows,

RE: Audition postings

You'd better believe i'm dropping in from time to time to check what's on and happening!

:)

Unfortunately (or fortunately as the case may be) i'll be leaving London early tomorrow to catch up on sightseeing and family history for about 7 weeks. When i return to London you can be sure of a few notes from abroad on productions i've seen.

Cheers
Grant (soon to be in Birmingham)
