American needs advice please!

Hi - I am an American student coming to Australia in order to study and HOPEFULLY test out the acting scene. I am coming in August, but I have no idea how to get into the scene. Does anyone have any advice? I will be in Queensland, studying at Bond. I appreciate any help!! I have experience in modelling and theatre and an interest in TV and film. Thank you
