im not very computer literate, Im searching for somewhere in this world for the best New york dialects tape.
can anybody help me..
im looking for the best audio tape/s...good value for money.. i will pay well for it..

Tue, 22 Feb 2000, 10:05 amI'm not sure if David Allen Stern ACTING WITH AN ACCENT does a New York tape.... but if he does I would suggest it would be worth a listen.

Only trouble with his series is he assumes you are starting with a US accent...and as his teaching relies on resonance...he assumes you naturally resonate forward in the mouth, whereas most Aussies resonate sort of centrally and high (imho)...Anyway, once you're over that, his series seems to work for a lot of people (used a few different tapes myself, with actors and students.)
Agree with Grant though that immersion through video is a good idea and sometimes is all that is needed. One regular Green Room Gossiper can probably recite In The Name Of The Father for that reason (but her Northern Irish Accent is brilliant !)
