ad-Venturing idiot
Mon, 24 May 1999, 03:40 pmHow about ITA starting a regional 'Theatre Trusts', that would foster cooperation and/or productions by pooling resources together. Promote tours by Clubs of their production to another venue or even a major one once a year at a larger venue - this is not to say ITA would take the risk, as each club would partner the event. Or is this totaly insane?!?!Joe 'idiot venture'McCabe

Tue, 25 May 1999, 01:59 pmHi Joe> It's just weird to me, that a club can spend upto $3000.00 on> the "mis'en scene" for a show, then vitually destoy it for> the next one, this has to be a waste of resources. When they can do> the same show 'a bit further down the road' and capitalise on what> they have outlayed.Clubs or perhaps the ITA may like to check out CountryArts. They provide assistance to a range of arts organisations:* to enhance the cultural life of regional Western Australia* to encourage and promote the touring of professional performing arts activities* to assist regional communities in presenting professional performing arts activities* to promote development and access to the performing arts* to support and advance the interests of performing arts venues and professional performing arts companies and individuals* to encourage cooperation between performing arts practitioners and presenters for the exchange of professional expertise, services and activities* to present a balance of performing arts activity and ensure an equitable distribution throughout the state, taking into account the end-user driven nature of Country Arts' operations* to give preference to West Australian product, however decisions will be made on the basis of support from regional communities, realistic tour itineraries and budgetsNow if ArtsWA can see their way clear to fund the ITA, i wouldn't be surprised if support from Country Arts were also available.CheersGrant
