The convention is for most shows to start at 8pm.

Is this convenient? Would earlier or later be more suitable?

Most theatres start at 8.00pm yet many people would not consider going to the cinema after the 6.30 - 7.00 show. Should the shows start earlier?

550 participants in two months

leave it at 8.00 pm 246 44%
curtain up at 7.30 175 31%
curtain up at 7.00 51 9%
even earlier 43 7%
even later 26 4%
curtain up at 8.30pm 10 1%

Pretty big case for keeping the status quo, although some would like to start slightly earlier.

I personally find it tricky to get to early shows, and sometimes even 8pm is a pain if I've been out all day. I usually can't be bothered going all the way home to get cleaned up, fed, and turn around to go out again for an 8pm show. If I can get a takeaway snack, turn up in whatever I'm wearing, and get dinner afterwards, I'm more likely to make it as a solo attendee, but if it's a date or I'm having a meal with friends I'm much more likely to go to a later movie. (I virtually never attend a 6pm session of anything, and prefer 9pm or later...but obviously I'm a minority)
