Burning Question for Craig Williams

I assume everyone has seen the silly "Burning Questions" column in the West Australian. I admit I am an absolute trivia nerd, and so, against my better judgment, I have read this column pretty consistently over the past year.

Has anyone else noticed that every second question is answered by "Craig Williams". I ask: is this the very same Craig Williams who is a renowned Perth actor and regular poster to this site? If so, my next question is, don't you have something better to do with your time?

Although given that I'm writing this post, I'm probably not one to throw stones.

Hi TP

I usually DO have something better to do than to bother reading the actual ARTICLES in The West; and I wonder why other people don't have better things to do than watch the nightly news...however the people I am currently residing with get the paper delivered, and once they've finished with it I happen to be pretty partial to the cryptic crosswords which are on the same page. It wasn't such a big leap to start answering the trivia questions.

It doesn't actually take that much out of my day to send in answers, given that I usually send in five or so at a time (if I know them). So that's only once or twice a week. If I'm online here or downloading music files, I can send email concurrently...so it's hardly a big extra drain on my time.

My current strike rate is probably about 50% - for every answer I've sent in since I started in early October, around half have been published.

The way I see it, there's hardly any better use of my time than to be doing stuff that amuses me...and maybe entertains or informs others. That's why I'm here on this site too, and also why I work as an actor and as a musician, or my other casual work of facilitating outdoor activities and games.....probably a selfish motivation, but when your industry involves amusing others, it's probably an investment of your time to know how to successfully amuse yourself.

Given that you think it's such a silly waste of time, which of us do you think should be finding something better to do? After all...you're reading it, both here and in The West!

Cheers,
Craig
