just a quickie!
Sun, 29 Aug 2004, 11:23 amhey there everyone,
just a quick question!
What is the part you most long to play??? the one part that you would give your eye teeth for, that part that yes, you WOULD kill for!!!
play/musical
PLAY - for me it has to be BRICK from Cat on a Hot Tin Roof - Tennesse Williams, Paul Newman inspired me to no end with his performance in that film and the play is riddled with subtext that could be nothing but a joy to unravel on stage...
MUSICAL - now, this one changes depending on what mood im in and if i've just seen a show etc. right now it would have to be... Sweeney Todd, only heard the soundtrack but I cant get enough of "Not While I'm Around"
Well, love and peace to all!

ps. the facts of life -
birth. death.
you fill in the blanks... :)

I crossed my biggest fish off the top of the list only a few months ago... Iago in Othello. Ten years I waited, so I can't even begin to tell you how good it was to finally tackle it.
Nothing I'm really burning to do now, except maybe Lear, and since I'm still only 35, I'll give that one some time.
Musicals? I like the enigmatic ring to J.W. Booth in "Assassins". Apropos Paul's comments in another thread, I like Sondheim & Weidman's words probably more than the music, although Sondheim's treatment of "The Ballad of Booth", and the way it plays between Booth and the Balladeer, is pretty damn exciting.
Plus, few scenes in the modern musical theatre have the evil genius of that final dialogue between Booth and Oswald.
Directing wise, my wish-list of plays, musicals, and operas is exhaustive, and my reasons for wanting to stage them are beyond the capacities of even this board.
