New poll topic: How many auditions have you attended in the past 12 months?

And a question for discussion -
Are auditions the most important part of getting cast?

How many acting gigs have you had in the last 12 months?

163 participants in 3 weeks.

0 30 votes 18%
1-2 46 votes 28%
3-4 30 votes 18%
5-7 21 votes 12%
8-10 3 votes 1%
11-15 5 votes 3%
16-20 4 votes 2%
over 20 24 votes 14%

A bit more than a quarter of us only do 1 or 2 gigs a year.
About half do 1-4 gigs a year.
The large number of people who say they did over 20 gigs....these were most probably very short seasons(!) or maybe they are counting individual performances?

Tricky to get reliable data from this question, because some casts may have been lucky enough to get one very long gig (a schools tour, for instance) and so be in a lot of work and yet not do so many different gigs in the 12 months. Someone else (a variety artist) may do 20 or 30 gigs in a year, each of them a different show but only lasting one night.

Comparing this with the previous poll, it seems to correlate....most only went for a few auditions, and only did a few gigs. So does it follow that to get more gigs you must go for more auditions?
Yet some people may have landed several gigs last year from only very few auditions...(I'm one.)

So are there other factors at play? This poll topic continues...part 3: Just how important are auditions to get performance gigs anyway?

Cheers,
The Poll-tergeist.
