What do you do to stay in shape phsically? How long should you work out without over doing it?

I mean you need to focus first and foremost on acting but how much time should be spent on physical fitness? I mean were not supposed to be athletic but we have to be fit maybe even fighting fit.

I am trying to work out 2-3 times a week, but I feel out of place, my fitness and coordination is average but inconsistent so i'm just aiming for consistency. I used to do Karate and am thinking of taking it up again but I don't wan't it to conflict with my acting. What do you guys do to balance things out and how much time should a actor be putting into physical work outs without jeopardising his acting.
