Options for beginners - theatre groups or short classes?

Hi all, My apologies if I have posted this in the wrong forum - this one seemed the most appropriate. My question is, what do you feel would be the better option for beginner? Joining a local theatre group, or going for a short introductory course on acting? I'm 25 and would like to see if acting is something I could have some fun with as a hobby. For a while now I've been googling around, looking for a group who offer short introductory courses to acting, but I can't find any in my area. Everything I've found so far either seems to be interstate, or for under 18s. (I'm in Brisbane). The other option is to join a theatre group, but I thought perhaps paying for some proper tuition would be a better way to go? Are there any beginner clinics around Brisbane as introductions to what acting is all about? If anybody has any suggestions, I would be very appreciative. Thank you! -lilly
