Hi guys and gals!

Just wondering if anyone is, has or knows someone who has majored in "Theatre/ Film/ Dance" at the University of NSW at Kensington?
The subject is part of the Bachelor of Arts degrees, and i'm desperate to know if the course is good or not.

As all of you would know - finding the right way in this industry is hard - there are so many courses and options to choose from. But i have heard that the UNI of NSW is closely associated with NIDA and various other playwrights' organisations.

Please get back to me if you, or anyone else you know has studied this course.

Thanks so much!!!

Hi Carrie,
I started Theatre and Film at UNSW in 96 (before there was a dance component!) and am now finishing my honours thesis.
I'd recommend UNSW to anyone, and the theatre and film course is great. (Correct me if I'm wrong, but) Sydney uni doesn't offer theatre as a specialisation to 'first years', so if you want to get into it straight away, that's another plus for UNSW. This is all assuming you want to study theatre as a BA, as opposed to going to VCA, WAAPA or NIDA or somewhere and doing a more 'practical' course.
As Danne said above, NUTS (The theatre society) is great fun... unless you let it eat your degree and do more plays than subjects (as a certain friend of mine is doing).
The other advice in the posts above seems sound... your degree will be what you make it, wherever you go; that said, I now have a paid job in the industry, so there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow... or at least, a light at the end of the tunnel.
Feel free to email any questions (Carrie or anyone else who's interested in the course).
Best wishes!
