VCA Drama
Sun, 2 Sept 2007, 04:26 pmHi all!
I'm looking into entering into the VCA drama couse in 2009 and was wondering if anyone could share with me their experiences with the course, as well as the audition process. I will only be 18 by the commencement of the course, will this in any way affect wether I am accepted or not?
Any advice is appreciated!
Cheers,
-Hillary

Sun, 2 Sept 2007, 05:55 pmI can't speak for the actual audition process, but I do know that experience/maturity is a factor. Generally speaking, VCA does not take applicants who have just left school, due to the fact that most high school students don't have a lot of outside experience (ie. non-school productions) under their belts, or the 'maturity' to undertake a full-time course.
(I'm not disagreeing or agreeing with this policy, I'm just stating that you might not have as good a chance as someone who is 23 and has had more theatrical experience/study)
You may wish to consider auditioning for other drama courses as well - not only will it help in preparing for VCA's, but you may get into a 'lesser known' course and then go onto VCA later. There are also a number of people who offer specific classes on auditioning for VCA (I can't think of any off the top of my head, but I know there are people who do it)
