Stage Combat/ Choreography Lessons??

G'day All I’ve seen a few members inquiring about stage combat courses. There seems to be a genuine interest in violence on stage/film :) And why not!!! It is a fantastic skill to have and always looks good on a CV. My question is then…what is the genuine feel out there if a school was created to teach people stage combat??? I’ve been doing martial arts for over 7 years and my brother and I are both professional Choreographers. We are currently doing martial arts scenes for an animation that, if all goes well, will be show and sold to Hollywood. We are also currently helping out for an amateur dramatics stage play where we will be teaching people how to fight with a scythe (Death’s weapon). Ultimately it is always easier when people have had training in martial arts but I just want to get a feel for what people think… Let me know…Oh and don’t forget to smile :) David Green DRAGON FILMS

I have also done about 16 years of Martial Arts (specifically Ju-Jitsu) and have also choreographed a few shows here and there. There are a few agencies that do offer Stage Combat type classes which (of course) cost a heap. Then there is Andy Fraser (I hope I got that right) who is a member of a National Fight Choreographers Agency and he himself runs most of the Combat Classes in Perth WA. He's the only official rep we have from that agency.

The animation thing sounds like fun actually. Good luck with with and do you need any help? :LOL:

I think that there is already a few 'schools' as such around and have really got the main market. The only real way to become competitive is to offer heavily discounted or cheaper courses that would cater to the currently missed market, excluded because of the large course fees.
