A question: should....

Hello there - only having recently been interested in theatre and acting at 25, I'm now trying to decide where to start. I've had an extensive look around this site and still have no idea where to start . I was thinking of auditioning for some plays or student films but with having done no degree of acting before I was wandering if this was a good idea - maybe just to see if I WAS any good or not. But didn't know if this would be a waste of time or not.

Should I start auditioning straight away or perhaps doing a course .? which would be the better option . I was also wondering if anyone might be able to recommend an acting course in PERTH .. as I have no idea as to whats out there , maybe a course that one of you might have completed and felt was very beneficial to a beginner ..
