The winner of the Premiers Australia Day Active Citizenship Award in the category of community group or event was presented today to Harbour Theatre at the Australia Day ceremony at the Fremantle Arts Centre. This award was in recognition of all the volunteers that have been a part of Harbour Theatre over the last 40 odd years we've been in Fremantle. Our thanks to City of Fremantle, the hundreds of members that have been a part of Harbour Theatre, the other nominees and winners of the other categories and to the mystery person who nominated Harbour Theatre for this award. CONGRATULATIONS TO KEN SWINDALE from the Garrick Theatre

Who today was honoured with the

"Premier's Australia Day Active Citizenship Award"

- for all his decades of community work for the Guildford and City of Swan Community.

Held at a Civic Reception today at the Midland Town Hall to a crowd capacity. From all reports and my sources tell me that Ken was OVER THE MOON and grinning from ear to ear. Meg Tanner reacted like Ken had won the Lotto.

KenÂ’s Community Work Over the Years:

SWAN-GUILDFORD HISTORICAL SOCIETY (Inc)
ST MATTHEWS ANGLICAN PARISH OF GUILDFORD
CITY OF SWAN – Guildford Community Advisory Committee
GARRICK THEATRE CLUB (Inc)
GUILDFORD TOURISM OFFICE
MIDLAND JOB LINK
GUILDFORD RED CROSS

Ken is a very solid member of our community who is always willing to assist. He is a “quiet achiever” who is always there when a local group needs assistance. He’s not known for self promotion.
ThereÂ’s always a major gap to fill when Ken decides itÂ’s time to leave a committee for whatever reason.

The referees suspect there are probably charitable works and other similar community activities that Ken Swindale has been involved in which have been confidential and have consequently gone un-recorded.
