THEATRE AWARDS NOMINEES ANNOUNCED.

The nominees in six core categories for the 4th Annual I.F.A.C./Equity Guild Awards have been announced. The six categories include: Best Actor – Female, Best Actor – Male, Best Newcomer, Best Director, Best Production and Best New Play.

“2003 has proven to be a record year for the Awards in terms of the number of productions submitted for final assessment” President of the Equity Benevolent Guild Jay Walsh said.

Mr Walsh said “Such a result means that the Awards have an increasing importance for the WA theatre industry as a major promotional event. It has always been the intention that the awards would become performing arts awards, and with this growing industry recognition and an audience increase of 32% in 3 years, the inclusion of other performing arts categories may happen sooner rather than later”.

A list of all nominees in each category is attached.

All finalists and eventual winners will be announced by AFI Award Winner Ms Rachel Blake (Lantana, Wildside), and the Minister for Culture and the Arts the Hon. Sheila McHale MLA at the I.F.A.C./Equity Guild Awards presentation ceremony. The ceremony will again be held at the art deco restored Mt Lawley Bowling Club on Saturday 15th November. Ticket bookings are now open and enquiries should be directed to Ms Sandra Woodham on 9227 7924.

Just amending to my above responses;

the productions are chosen from those that happen July-June (ie: a tax year).

Yes, I included all the judges in the previous post.

Cheers
