Hi everyone, I am applying to WAAPA and NIDA (among other places) this year and was wondering if anyone here had auditioned and could tell me about the process? I know about how with NIDA there a 40 applicants and you get split into groups to perform, and how with WAAPA it's a one on one audition process, but has anyone made it to a call back? What questions do they ask you in the interview? Thanks in advance :)

Depending on whether you're auditioning for acting or MT... it is slightly different, I think. With MT you have the first solo audition where you sing your two songs and do your monologue. Then at the callback David King will say what song he wants to hear and you do your monologue again while they film you, then you have the final callback which is a dance callback, and then after, you get paired up and you go in and do a short acting scene with your partner. With the acting audition, I think it's the same except there is a group section of the audition - I'm not sure though. As for questions, Jenny will ask you how much dance experience you have. Since we did A CHORUS LINE this year, they're getting REALLY picky with everyone's dancing. I think the standard of dance will be much higher from now on. They ask the generic question: "tell us about yourself?" Just say a summary of what you've been doing (performing wise) to keep yourself busy, and what skills/talents you might have. Don't go into much detail and waste time chatting, 'coz in reality, after days of auditioning, they don't really care. It sounds really harsh, but it's true. Hope that helps :-)
